DIY mail holder
I have a serious problem in my home….papers. They are everywhere! And the biggest portion of all these papers are forgotten pieces of mail that were tucked between papers from the kids’ school and mailing advertisements. I can’t be the only one here, right?
I decided that all of these piles of paper were not going to take over my life or my home and devised a plan to start organizing the insanity. I had a lot of ideas: stacked files assigned to each person in the home, color coordinated piles, an accordion-style folder with the days of the week on separate tabs; the list went on and on. Then I realized I was over thinking the process. The organization should be simple and in plain view so no one could ignore it for days on end. Hence, the DIY mail holder.
It hangs on the wall next to the door that everyone comes in after school and work. I placed initials on the front so that each member of the family knows where their mail is found and the final step: everyone must go through their mail every day. That’s the most important part. The nice thing is, the mail holder is in sight, so no one can use the excuse they didn’t see it.
