Do you save jars that products come in that you purchase, for example, pickles, mayo, and baby food? If you do, then you probably have a pretty good supply of clean and empty jars already. If you don’t currently save your empty jars, then you may want to start in order to make this cute craft, which doubles as a package for gift giving.
So, how do you recycle these jars and turn them into a craft project?
• Make sure your jars have been thoroughly cleaned and are dry.
• Paint the glass on the jar (the jar itself) with glass paint. Set the painted jar aside and allow the paint to dry.
• Select a different color of paint for the lid, and paint the lid. Set the lid aside and allow the paint to dry.
• Insert a decorative knob in the center of the lid using a screwdriver.
That’s it. Easy as pie! Use these recycled and decorated jars to hold jewelry, hair accessories, candy or fill them with gifts. If you have children, they would enjoy making this craft project with you and will take pride in their work. Hey, why not allow your child to make one or two of these recycled jars to hold his or her belongings such as crayons?
