Great idea…deck herb garden in crates. Let’s face it, groceries are getting more expensive every single day. Families and even those who are single are having a hard time feeding themselves and keeping food on the table. Not only that, but if you only eat organic food, then you know how costly that is. Why not create a deck herb garden using crates?!
Many of us have crates that we don’t use. And, even if we don’t I am sure you can find some at your local flea market, farmers market or even thrift stores and garage sales. It is important to have your crates OFF the deck floor to allow for drainage. All you have to do, is use an old bench and place your crates on it. Then fill the crates with soil and plant your herbs. Water and watch your herbs grow. Children will enjoy helping with the project and will learn about growing herbs, which could help in a parents favor if a child is picky and does not like to eat a lot of healthy stuff. How can a child say no to eating something that he or she helped grow and take care of.
