With warm weather coming, you’ll love the look of this cute beret and tank top ensemble. They are colorful and care free. The patterns are relatively easy and can be made over a short period of time. Follow our step-by-step crochet instructions to create this gorgeous Mia tank and beret set.
Here’s how you do it:
Beret:
The beret is crocheted in the round. At the end of each round, join with a SL ST to the top of the first CH 3. The first CH4 counts as 1DC and 1CH. The first CH 3 counts as 1 DC.
- Round 1: CH 6 and join with a SL ST to the beginning. CH 4 (count it as 1 DC and 1CH) and make (DC 1, CH 1) 11 times to the circle. At the end of the round, join with a SL ST to the top of the first CH 3 for a total of 24 STs.
- Round 2: CH 3 and make 1 DC in the same ST. CH 1. (DC 2 in next ST and CH 1) 11 times. For a total of 36 STs.
- Round 3: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next ST . CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1, CH 1) 11 times. For a total of 48 STs.
- Round 4: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in next 2 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 2 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 60 STs.
- Round 5: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next 3 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 3 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 72 STs.
- Round 6: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next 4 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 4 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 84 STs.
- Round 7: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next 5 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 5 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 96 STs.
- Round 8: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next 6 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 6 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 108 STs.
- Round 9: CH 3 and make DC 1 in the same ST, DC 1 in the next 7 STs. CH 1. (DC 2, DC 1 in the next 7 STs, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 120 STs.
- Round 10-11: CH 3. DC 1 in the next 8 STs. CH 1. DC 1 in each DC and CH 1 in each CH of the previous round for a total of 120 STs.
Finish:
- Round 12: At the end of the previous round, join with a SL ST to the top of the CH 3 and first DC and decrease. DC 1 in the next 5 STs, DC2TOP. CH 1. (DC2TOG, DC 1 in the next 5 STs, DC2TOG, CH 1) 11 times. For a total of 96 STs.
- Round 13: At the end of the previous round, join with a SL ST to the top of the CH 3 and first DC to decrease. DC 1 in the next 3 STs, DC2TOG. CH 1. (DC2TOG, DC 1 in the next 3 STs, DC2TOG, CH 1) 11 times for a total of 72 STs.
- Round 16-18: CH 2 (count as 1 HDC). HDC 1 in each ST (in each DC and each CH) around for a total of 72 STs.
Tank Top:
Start with CH 43
1) Add TC into the 11th CH from the hook. CH 3, skip three CH, TC, repeat this 4 times to create the first row.
2) CH 1 to start the second row. Add SC in the first DC. CH 3, skip 3. Add 1 SC in CH 4 and skip the next 3. Repeat this pattern 8 times to complete the row . Turn.
3) CH 7 to start the third row. Add 1 TC in the next SC. CH 3 and SL the next 3. Repeat this pattern 4 times. Turn the crochet tank as you work. Repeat the last 2 rows 16 times. Do not turn at the end of the last row.
4) Turn the crochet tank to the side to start creating the bodice. CH 3 in the first row. Add 2 DC around the post of the next DC. CH 1 and work 2 DC. Turn and continue to DC 55 STs to complete row one.
5) CH 3 to start the second row. DC 1 and CH 1 and alternate and turn to complete the row. Repeat this pattern to form rows 3-9. Fasten off to secure.
Armholes and Neck
6) SL ST in every ST of the first 12 to start making armholes. CH 1 and add a SC in the next DC. CH 2 and skip the next 2 DC. Repeat 14 times and turn.
7) CH 1 and SC in the first ST to shape the neck hole. Repeat twice and turn. Continue until it is the proper size. Fasten off to secure.
8) Turn the crochet to the front and join the stitching with a SC ST to the first CH of the tank top foundation to the edge. CH 3 and work in 2 DC. Repeat this pattern to complete the edge and fasten it off. Flip the crochet to the back and repeat to edge the back.
9) Sew close the shoulder and side. Join the yarn with an SC to the shoulder at the edge of the neck. CH 1 and work 1 SC in the same place. Add one row of SC around the edge of the neck. Join with a SC to the first SC and fasten it off.
10) Repeat or the other armhole.
