18″x18″ Printed Quilted Pillows! There are so many cute pillows on the market these days, but the price can seem outrageous. Here is a simple and quick design for making a print pattern quilted pillow that you can use to adorn nearly any room. Simply pick the print pattern you want, a matching edging fabric, add some batting and stuffing and you can sew your way to a new look. Follow these steps to create the print quilted pillow you desire:
Choose enough print fabric for the amount of 18-inch by 18-inch pillows you wish to make. Purchase a solid-color edging fabric in sufficient quantity that matches the print material. Purchase the necessary amount of batting and poly material for quilting and stuffing the pillow.
- Measure and cut two squares of the print fabric that are 18.5-inches long and wide, per pillow. Measure and cut 4 strips of solid fabric that are 18.5-inches long and 2.5-inches wide, per pillow. These will be your edge trim. You will leave a ¼-inch seam around all of the edges.
- Pin the batting to the backside of each print pattern piece and use your sewing machine to run a quilt pattern over them. The triple stitch looks nice, but any quilt stitch will work.
- Bend the colored fabric strips in half and place between the two print pattern pieces. All of the edges should meet perfectly and the print pieces need to have the batting facing outwards. Pin each edge carefully.
- Sew all of the edges except for the last 4 inches on one side. Turn it right-side out, fill with the poly material and use a needle and thread to complete the closure. Repeat this for the number of pillows you wish to make.
